Great demonstration on how to set up and use a beading plane. I have one, but haven't had luck with it so far. I had a couple questions:
1. The blade appears to be bevel down, is that correct?
2. How do you go about sharpening the blade?
3. How do you approach a situation where you have to use the beading place against the grain?
Andrew, the bevel down is pertinent to your individual make of plane. For example my Lie-Nielsen beading tool blades have no bevel.
I sharpen my blades with files and hone with slip stones.
If you are using a specific plane as in the video I would suggest cutting very lightly in multiple passes against the grain and make sure the blades are as sharp as you can achieve. Again, in my situation with a Lie-Nielsen tool I can simply swap the fence over and approach from the other direction.
I hope this helps. Good luck
